Chelsea’s record signing, Alvaro Morata has
finally made his debut for the club after completing a big money move
to the English champions.
The striker was introduced in the 62nd minute in an International
Championship Cup held in Singapore, in a game between the German
champions.
Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
Morata 24, signed from his boyhood club real Madrid for a fee of £58
million but could rise to £70million. He is now Chelsea’s most expensive
player as well as the most expensive Spanish player in the premier
league, after Fernando Torres broke that record when he moved from
Liverpool to Stamford Bridge in 2011 for £50 million.
Morata scored 20 goals and provided five assists in 39 games in all
competitions for Real Madrid last season.
After earning a corner kick deep into the second half Cesc Fabregas
delivered a cross that fizzled off Morata, into the path of striker
Micthy Bastuayi who slotted home with a cool finish.
Morata was clad in the widely proclaimed cursed number 9 shirt.
However, Alvaro Morata showed glimpses of breaking the no.9 jinx with a
bright start after assisting on his debut.
Morata will hope to start when Chelsea locks horns with International
Milan in the ongoing International Champions Cup.
